The Township Board is excited to move
forward on the Lincoln Township Parks. The
2007/2008 budget is in place and our first
goal is to improve the overall maintenance
of all parks and try to begin some capital
improvements. Due to the large dollar value
that it will take to do these things, we ask
for your patience as we make the
improvements over a course of time. Some
capital improvements in the current budget
includes $20,000 towards the
restroom/concession stand at the soccer
park, $10,000 towards turf for rocket
football, $20,000 towards replacing some of
the dugouts at the ball fields, $5,000
towards improvements to North Lake Park,
$8,000 to the Community Center, and
water and sewer improvements to
some of the
parks. We will also be doing chloride
applications to some areas in attempt to
keep down the dust.
We have estimates coming in for rock removal
at Lincoln Beach and to refurbish the tennis
courts at the Community Center. We have
hired Dave Austin from our engineering firm,
Williams & Works, to do two park studies. One study is for Glenlord Beach. Dave has
already had one kick off meeting for Glenlord Beach where he and an associate,
Pat Cornelisse, a landscape and parks
consultant presented some information from
the Department of Environmental Quality and
also did some brainstorming
with various residents about possible
improvements to that area. The second study
is an overview of the rest of the parks. Dave will assess the current situation
of each of the parks and also provide
ideas for capital improvements. Any problems or concerns that you have about any
of the Township parks should be directed to
the Township Hall.
